DCCCD gets artistic, virtual style

"DCCCD will host an art exhibit and an avatar fashion show on their Second Life virtual island culminating with a virtual reception on Nov. 4. from 1 to 2 p.m.

The theme for entries is "Express Yourself in Red, White and Blue." Organizers of the event ask entrants to give them their insights about culture and identity with their avatars. The entry deadline is Oct. 25. The fashion show's winners will be announced at the reception and they will receive a virtual cash award of $500, $300 and $200 for first, second, and third places, respectively. The virtual money, or Liden Dollars, can be used by Second Life members to buy buildings, special scripts that give better dance moves, and anything else someone has come up with in Second Life said Second Life steering committee member and Richland professor Dwayne Carter.

Fashion show judges include Richland multimedia instructional associates Montse Anderson and Debbie Smith, and Richland adjunct instructor Melissa Martinez."
