Patti Jennings, one of the DCCCD Second Life Team, pointed out this interesting article from the SMU Cox website: What It Means to Be an Avatar: A Study of Second Life, new research by Ulrike Schultze of SMU Cox, which delves into what is most fundamental to the avatar-self relationship in a study of residents of Second Life, the most successful and accessible virtual world.

Richland College Computer Arts Festival
Presents

Call for Entries:
Deadline March 24 -April 1

Attention all current Multimedia and Game Design students.

• Submit your web-ready animations, web comics and videos OR
• Submit your high-resolution Digital Art files for large format printing.
• Files can be up to 18 x 24 inches at 200 DPI. Accepted works will be displayed on the web or laminated and displayed in the Lago Vista Gallery during the 2010 Computer Arts Festival.
• Works must be original and the property of the student.
  

Prizes: $150 First Place, $100 Second Place and $50 for two honorable mentions based on originality and creativity.

Entry Forms available at the front desk in the Multimedia Learning Center.

Multimedia Staff Members Nominated!

Multimedia Learning Center full-time staff members Steve Dupuis and Joe Vines were members of a team nominated to receive the Learning Technology Innovation of the Year!



Sadly, the Innovation did not win.

Multimedia Students Turn Sculptors!

Dallas, TX experienced its first blizzard in years in February 2010 right before Valentine's Day. Richland College closed but that didn't stop the Multimedia students from getting out and being creative!
